Hopfully this is in the right section. My situation is what the subject says. Here's the info. dvd burning (no clue what type). I'm trying to use dvd-r discs to burn my san andres. I got the iso on my comp no problem. Now, I tried using nero and alcohol 120 first to burn it onto a dvd. Well, the problem wasn't with the dvd working, it was with it burning. It won't burn what so ever. It says in both programs, there is no cd in the drive. When I used dvd decrypter, I get this error "Device not ready (medium not present.)

So does this mean my dvd burning can't detect dvd-r's or am I doing something wrong. Also, I am familiar with nero, alcohol 120, and the burning process. I don't know much about dvd-decrypter, but I'm sure I didn't screw anything up when I was trying to use it...too simple to screw anything up with that program.

Yeah it might not recognise -R. Try a +R and see how u go.

When my burner started to pack it in it would give me the 'no disc in drive' error a lot, but try the +R before makin the call that your burner is stuffed.

Edit: You also may need to update your burner's firmware.

I know my burner picks up dvd+r's... it's an hp dvd writer 300n and it says that it's dvd+rw/cd-rw compatible...I'm pretty sure that means my dvd burner won't pick up dvd-r...but I'll let you guys confirm it.

You might want to consider using Maxell, or Verbatim.
