I was just wondering if someone could help me to find forced subtitles for some movies.
I need them for Rush Hour 1-3 and Star Wars 1-6 in English, the versions i have of these movies don't have the forced subs so I (obviously) don't know wth they're saying when they speak in a different language

any help is very greatly appreciated

The forced subtitles are either hardcoded into the movie, or in your case, in a separate subtitle stream. You need to download a eng. subtitle file for that movie and hope it has the forced subs in it. It might have the forced subs in, but depending how they were ripped, might not have retained the "forced" propriety, and they might display only when selected.

What do you mean by "forced" ?

Usually one downloads the srt file and either hard codes it into the
avi using virtualdub/textsub, or you can multiplex it into the avi
file (soft sub) using divxmux or similar.

umm...by forced i mean the subtitles that come up when they speak a different language (i.e. the subs that are forced to show and are not selected to show) for example when they speak elvish in LOTR the forced subs show so we can understand what they are saying

i know about the hard coding and stuff, but the thing is i've been looking for months and cannot find an .srt or any subtitle file that has only the forced subs cuz they seem to be ripped from the versions of rush hour and star wars that i have

so i just need help if anyone has the movies if they could rip the subs for me or if anyone has the subs or knows where to find em or something

thanx

Aren't the "forced" subs you're talking about actually a component
of the video data (ie. hard subbed) - rather than existing in a separate
subtitle file?

Not always, depends on the movie. Sometimes they are hard coded, but many times they are part of a subtitle stream. It could be a stream that contains only the subtitles that are needed when they speak a different language, or the forced subs could be part of the entire subtitle stream, for the whole movie, and the part where they speak a different language are flagged as "forced".

You could make the subs you need to be forced with DVDSubEdit.

99% of all problems are between the computer and the chair.
