AVI encodes to VCD but not SVCD in TMPGEnc

I have sucessfuly managed to use TMPGEnc to create a VCD from a AVI. file. However when i try and make a SVCD using the same file the encoded file has audio that is out of sync. I have searched the forum for clues and tried many tips but none seem to help. Please can someone give me some answers?
