I've been using swap magic for a long time and I thought I was using bad media because everytime I booted a backup, there would be a red flash which I thought meant that the disc was bad. The game would eventually stop working after awhile. I thought the red flash meant everything, but I recently booted a BRAND NEW ORIGINAL game and there was a red flash! The game runs fine! I tried this on all my other newer original games and they all show a red flash. What is the use of this red flash?
I doubt the red flash means anything to be honest,
this is my guess,
im guessing its juat a harmless fault with the swap magic,
i always got the red flash when using swap magic but games still worked fine so im not bothered by it to be honest.
Same thing when I boot, All my games work fine though, not sure why yours would quit working after a while. The red flash well thats just the swap disc doing its magic.
Geez what a relief, I was told the red coloring was supposed to mean the backup didnt burn right and wont work or something. My booting of the new games proved this wrong, but I guess from you guys said, its nothing. I still have problems with my backups, and I think its because of my media, though Im still a bit skepticle because ive tried a TON of different brands.
It's the console changing video formats to suit the game. Only an artifact of the switching process, and nothing to worry about.

If you have tried ritek -r disks (GO5 dye) and are still getting unreliable burns then it's most likely your laser is picky.. You could try one or 2 clicks each way on the white cog.. but it's really not worth trying to mess with the bias pots.
My ps2 is pretty old so the laser is probably really worn out by now. I cant seem to locate the white thing you turn inside the ps2, ive look inside and couldnt find it.
