Hi
1) rip to HDD
2) use dvd shrink in reauthor mode to edit clip
3) use something as Winavi converter to convert clip ( dvd flick may do the same)

Would mpeg4 work? You can use Nero Recode to cut out clips and encode them to mpeg-4 .

Will Mpeg-4 work with Power Point?

I have no ideea how PP videos work(never did a PP in my life:~)!). I am assuming it needs to access an external decoder, so it will as long you have something like FFDshow installed? Don't know...
Once you cut out your clip(for example with DVD Shrink ) you can use something like Internet Video Converter to convert to the format of your choice:

:~)That's why I asked, "Would it work?"
Don't know, just throwing out options. I am sure that there are some payware that do the job quick.
KMPlayer is a very good and versatile tool that I know it can save vieo clips during playback. I don't know if it saves from a DVD, it does from an avi .
