LG GSA-5163D problem

Hi all,

New member and ABSOLUTE newbie to dvds, so be gentle :-)

Have a problem with an used LG GSA-5163D (multi dvd rewriter) on my WinXP PC. Don't have the installation CD, but plug and play seemed to install it alright. Using Media Player, I'm able to play CDs, but not dvds. Called LG tech support, and was told I need a "dvd decoder". Where can I download a free one? Thanks.

Download VLC Player. This should play your dvd movies.

Thanks for the suggestion.

After googling a bit, I downloaded and installed Media Player Classic and Divx codec. Now I can play my dvds with MPC, but MP still won't play them.
