A couple of days ago I got Swap Magic 3.8 (already had No Solder Mod), and it works for most games on DVD+r (PES2008 jihooo). Some games though (will boot/play) but make a funny noise when loading/playing. It's like the PS2 has some difficulties reading the disc, though it will boot and play. It spins and slows down (funny noise), spins and slows down, spins and slows down.
I will try to record the noise when I get home, but maybe somebody has a clue already. I use DVDDecrypter, burn @ 4x-speed on Maxell DVD+r.
I never tried a DVD-r, so maybe that's it... could it be? (I have version 5 I guess, FAT PS2).
I Have this exact same problem with soem games. It sounds as if its having trouble reading the disc, usually makes the sound on loading screens and takes longer than usual to load.
Well, I have some good news. The "wrong" discs were backups on DVD+r. Yesterday I tried DVD-r and it makes a huge difference (nearly never a funny sound heard). The brand I use is Atari 8x (as recommended I burn @ 4x). The above confirms the essence of using good media.
