Hi everyone. I am a basketball agent based from my website at http://www.chrispearson.com
I have uploaded video for all my players so that teams can view it right away instead of waiting to receive DVDs. This has been a big success. So far I have used wmv for simplicity?s sake. I would now like to upgrade my site by providing full games in divX format. After I remove half time and time-outs the games are usually about 60 minutes long. I want to encode them in files of less than 500MB. The biggest benefits will be the improved quality over wmv and also that professional teams will be able to download the games and then play them on stand alone DVD players. I am looking for some advice about the best way to encode the games from MPG to divX. I want it to be as simple as possible because I have a lot of games to do. I also want a high level of compatibility for the teams that download the videos. They will probably have to install some codecs but the simpler the better because coaches and GMs tend not to be very techno savvy. Any advice about software and techniques that I should use would be very much appreciated.
Thank you!
Chris

You can try Internet Video Converter or Super. Also if you install the latest Divx bundle for Windows, I think it comes with a Divx Converter that will allow you to convert your mpegs to Divx.

Thank you! I will try these programs. Is there anything I need to know about the encoding process such as setting the software to encode slowly to get better quality with a smaller file size?

for divx conversion I always use the free dr.divx 2.0, it offers the best quality especially with the 2-pass home theatre mode. As far as compatibility, the program only encodes to resolutions that will play on most players. They have a pretty good dr.divx forum with knowledgeable people in case you run into problems.
