for Christmas i got a logitech g11 keyboard and it works great. but for some reason i cant use it in my bios or in my boot manager. i have my old ps/2 keyboard hooked up and sitting under my desk when i need to do something but i would like to be able to get rid of the old one and just use the new one. does anyone know how i can do this?

You need to "Enable USB Keyboard Support" in your motherboard BIOS. Most new motherboard have that option. Just look around until you find it, then enable it. If it's an older motherboard it might not have it. In that case try updating your BIOS. With a new BIOS version, that option might become available.

I don't know if it is possible, or advisable for that matter, to boot from a flash drive.

its possible. i did it with my dell all the time. its usefull for running linux for recovery purposes. here is a link

and also i searched for an update for my bios and the last update was 2/10/2007. so i dont think i will have much luck.

I was thinking more on the lines of XP, which is a totally different animal than Linux.
