Programs for recovering files from a HDD in DOS Mode. Well my request is simple. Im having trouble with my Seagate HDD 160GB drive. Windows Wont boot while i have the HDD connected, btw its an IDE drive. When i dosconnect the drive from the ide ribbon windows will boot fine. Also my OS is on the other drive, so the segate is set as a slave. Also the seagate drive has all of my pictures, documents and other really important stuff. I cant install windows on it cause itll give me a BSOD while its copying the necessary files to begin a XP installation. Whatever i try to do to it, it'll either give me a BSOD, or windows wont boot at all. I've thought of buying an external kit, since windows has problems booting while its connected. Ive also scanned the drive with HDD regenerator v1.51 full version with no sector errors, i've even scanned it twice with no luck. Also at this time while im writing this post im scanning the HDD with the Seagate Tools using the Long Test. So my request is simple, i need a DOS based program that will run from a floppy, preferably a CD, that can copy files from a HDD to another HDD. I know im asking for a lot, but in this case this is the only thing i can do, and it's my only option. I've had something like this happen to me before, but it was a long time ago and i forgot how i did it. Please i need help.

If the hard drive isn't formatted NTFS, an old Windows ME boot disk (floppy) will work.
I have copied files from an NTFS drive from DOS.
If you can boot from a floppy, then you can use Active@ NTFS Reader to copy the files to a FAT partitioned device.
That means a FAT partitioned hard drive or a floppy or a USB stick that is formatted FAT32.
You create a MS-DOS startup disk from Windows, then use the files from the link below.
Boot from this floppy and browse to the bad drive and the required folder or files.
'Ctrl C' copies the folder/file and you are offered the available FAT devices to copy it to.
In my case it was my 'A' drive (floppy) and my USB stick.
My USB stick is assigned 'G' under Windows, but in this case it appeared as 'B'.
Note that the USB device has to be formatted as FAT, else it won't be available.
