I have been running an internal dvd burner hooked up with an old hdd enclosure (both about 3 yrs old) hooked up to my laptop. It worked fine. I just replaced the burner with a Pioneer DVR 115-DBK, another internal burner hooked up the same way (I'm cheap and lazy). Windows xp seems to think it's a mass storage device. This wasn't a problem with the other dvd burner.

I tried downloading firmware, but get the error "available target is not found".

So, is this just a bad set-up, and I got lucky with the first dvd burner, but not this one? It shows up in Device Manager as unknown device.
