Is there a program that will check a burned DVD disk after the burn to ensure that it does not break up or freeze?

If you have Nero, use the CD-DVD Speed tool and do a quality check.

Thank you! I am using Nero 8 and burning in Nero Vision 5. Will a speed check show if a disc is bad? I just slowed my burn speed down from 16X to 8X to see if that helps. Most burns are fine it's just every once and a while a disc will break up of freeze near the end of the movie.

What discs are you using? Low quality discs/high burn speeds/old firmware they can all make your disc pixelate/freeze. it is recommended that you burn at 1/2 the rated speed of the disc.

Do run a "Disc Quality" chack with Nero's CD-DVD Speed". The tool will also tell you the MID of your disc if you use the "Disc Info" tab.

Fire up Nero CD-DVD Speed tool and do a Transfer Rate test.

Here's an example of a burn that fails at the end.




Note this disc would have been fine if it was kept under 4.1GB.

Thank you so much! It worked great and I wish I could upload the results! The last 1 GB showed massive jitter so I ran a scan disc as well. It showed bad sectors at the end of the disc and did not even finish the teat as it stopped the program. I am using Ridata +R discs and will think about using another brand.

Some people will say they had good results with Ridata. IMHO, should go with verbatim, or Taiyo Yuden if you purchase online.

Also, do not burn at X16.

Nero can verify the contents of any disc it burns to make sure the data is readable after burning.

Just tick the "Verify Data on Disc after Burning" box.

Does anyone know where I can get a manuel or instructions for use with Nero Disc-speed 4? The manual on the Nero web site is a broken link that leads back to their homepage. I email them to let them know but have not heard back as of yet and I would sure like to know the data I'm looking at.
