Hi all, I just recently built an HTPC unit with the following components...
AntecBlack Fusion Case
EVGA Motherboard e-7150/630i GPU with HDMI and Optical Out
Intel Core 2 Duo 2.3 Mhz
2 x 1G Corsair RAM
Baracuda 500GB SATA HDD
The problem I'm having is this, after putting everything together it worked flawlessly for about 1 week. Then, one day it didn't want to boot. It kept re-booting continuously without even posting and on board 7 segment display reading '88'. I swapped PS and RAM but same symptoms. I then had EVGA send me out a new board, plugged it in and it worked... for about 2 hours. Then I had to re-boot, this time it isn't re-booting continuously, but still hanging on 88 and not even posting. I have heard that the Antec Power Supplies are not the greatest, could it be the cause of my mobo failures??? Has anyone ever owned an EVGA mobo with these issues?
Have you built any computers before (not being sarcastic, just wanting to know your history)? Ensure that you have all your cables connected to your motherboard correctly, and that you arent accidently shorting any wires/connections. Short the BIOS chip, and try rebooting again (Do at your own risk - by mobo manufacturers instructions).
I have built computers a few times before, so I do know some stuff. I thought of shorts in the wiring, but it shouldn't have worked for one full week if that was the case. Also I did try removing the battery to clear the CMOS, but that didn't help either.
First, try swapping out that PS, it seems suspect to me. Also, are you using a UPS? I wonder if you are getting "brownouts" through your power line. Try a UPS if you experience more probs after installing new PS, also what did EVGA have to say about the mobo you returned?
