What you downloaded was a Torrent file.

So basically you ll need a bit-torrent client I recommend Utorrent.
And you will open the torrent file (the .tbp file) using the BT program,
I also recommend reading the BT security guide here

Here is some quotes from the first links I posted,
That give you an overview of Bit-torrent and features,

Also I personally recommend Peergaudian2 as well,
As listed on the above link , in rav009's security guide.
Good luck and welcome to the world of p2p,
Quote:

Bit-Torrent (often abbreviated to 'BT') is a protocol (a set of rules and description of how to do things) allowing you to download files quickly by allowing people downloading the file to upload (distribute) parts of it at the same time. Bit-Torrent is often used for distribution of very large files, very popular files and files available for free, as it is a lot cheaper, faster and more efficient to distribute files using Bit-Torrent than a regular download.

Just like you need a URL like 'www.google.com' to go to a web site and download content, you need a 'torrent file' (often abbreviated as '.torrent' or just 'torrent') to download content available using BitTorrent. Most of the time, you will download this file from a website, though you could also get the torrent from a friend or even a CD. Many websites offer torrents as one method of downloading files available through that website - for example, OpenOffice.org, a free office suite, can be downloaded using BitTorrent. Other sites, like legaltorrents.com, offer torrents of all kinds of things - these sites are just repositories of torrents and usually don't actually create any of the content available. They're known as indexes or trackers - there is a subtle difference between the two. (The Wikipedia article on BitTorrent trackers explains the difference.)

Once you've obtained the torrent file from wherever, you simply need to import it into your BitTorrent client

I have alot of reading to do, so i really not have anything downloaded yet, i have been using p2p for awhile but only on Ares.
The process is quite simple, is the torrent better easier ?

Torrent is the best way to go next to newsgroups.
But I prefer torrents because I only have to download One file,
Rather than the individual .rar's and such on newsgroups.

Since you have been using Ares , I would hope/assume you
are using Peerguardian 2 / protowall or something of the sort.

Have to be careful , there are companies out that report and log
those using torrents.

That's why I HIGHLY recommend Rav009's security guide.
Private torrent sites are the best , speeds are hella fast,
But most require a 1:1 ratio or better,

The bit-torrent protocol is being used a lot of places,
For example in Worldofwarcraft , to download the trail client,
Or even the normal updates, The Blizzard updater uses
torrent protocol to downloads the material and patches to users,

Good luck and be careful out there.

Some torrents are restricted by the hosts; sometimes they need you to have some kind of a membership, or some sites do not allow any leeching, and require the user to seed all the time. There may be other limitations, but I think these are the main two that cause problems.

Hope this helps.

Oh and to create a shortcut just find the program, right click and select create shortcut. Then just move it to your desktop.
