Madden 08 precision passing?

How does precision passing work? Can you give an example on how to use it. I am going absolutely MAD with the Superstar Challenge. I am on Tier 4, The Urlacher challenge and the Vince Young Challenge. I can not complete a single pass. I get intercepted on every time I throw the ball, or I throw incomplete passes. Normally I have no problems playing the game, but the tier 4 challenges are hard.
