Which is better DVR/VCR combo for DL disc burning, Panasonic DMR-EZ47V or Samsung DVD VR357?

I'm ready to upgrade my old Pioneer DVR 810-H all-in-one Tivo/burner because it won't record onto DL discs, and the only two DVR/VCR combo options I can find are the Panasonic DMR-EZ47V and Samsung DVD VR357 (need to have a combo unit to replace an existing VCR). The reviews of both products look iffy. I have Comcast cable so I don't think I would need a digital tuner (and would probably opt for the less expensive Samsung with no tuner). Also, the Samsung seems to be a little more intuitive than the Panasonic based on the reviews. However, from what I can gather, the Panasonic is ranked slightly higher overall by Consumer Reports and by reviewers' scores on Amazon and Best Buy, and it seems to be a slightly better seller online than the Samsung despite costing more.
Does anyone have experience with both machines to help with my decision? Thanks.
