I?ve posted questions concerning a good reliable CD/DVD Writer and you all have been a lot of help. You also helped me by reflecting on some of the media that you preferred for some of the different writers and differentiated between CD & DVD, which was appreciated too. Here?s my last question, which of these drives do you think gives the best results, you know quality sound (for CD?s) & best sound & optical reproduction (for DVD), and very few coasters? I?d also like to know what media you used or would suggest for the particular drive you like and what speed to burn them at. As far as the DVD aspect I like to burn DVD-R so I?d like the media to reflect that. Here is a list of the Drives I came up with. Like I said which one do you prefer and why. Here?s the Biggy, I really Liked the BenQ DW1640 best (but what do I know), but where the hell can you find one to buy, I mean I?ve searched for 2 nights and even though Google says here, here, here, they don?t have them there. So besides everything else where did you purchase any of the below that you liked and where did you get the media. Sorry I actually though this was going to be a short question, just getting kind of frustrated. HELP
Thanks again
Uncle Bob

I'm not a huge audiophile by any means, but I've always had great experiences with Plextor drives. I mostly burn videos with my burner and I've never had a bad disc (coaster). My preferred media manufacturer is Verbatim and I usually purchase my tech gear from newegg.com. I'm not sure if this was exactly what you were looking for, but it appears that most of the models you listed are currently outdated. With that being the case, you would probably have to purchase them from ebay.

Silk42 is spot on with the Newegg link, but you're not going to find BenQ drives, anywhere. They haven't made drives in almost 2 years.
