I'm planning to build a PC that can play latest games and will be future proof for at least 5 years. So as what the subject says, which one to buy? As for the CPU, I'm thinking Core 2 duo E8400 or 8500! Any advice will be much appreciated, thanks.

Depends on budget and i think 5 years is a long time to keep a board.

I have the p5k-e and have had no problems.

It's impossible to be futureproof for that amount of time unfortunately, but the P5K-E is nice. Don't limit yourself to Asus though, boards like the GA-P35-DS3R from Gigabyte are also worth a look.

Thanks for your reply guys! I'm thinking of buying Asus maximus formula or its little sister Asus P5E! What you guys think of this Mobos?

The Maximus Formula seems pretty solid, one of the regular members here has one and hasn't reported any major issues.

P5E is really a Maximus with a less elaborate heat dispansion system and one less gigabit port. I don't really see the need for going with a board much better than a p5e or p5k-e.

If you don't plan on Xfire, then I would go with a GA-P35-DS3R.
