Help needed please...
I have recorded something from TV onto a DVD-R/W.
I took that disk and plugged it into my computer.
I copied the Vidoe-TS folder to my computer. The first time I just used Explorer. The second time I used CloneDVD to rip the files.
The VTS_01_1.VOB is just over a Gb. in size.
It contains the 1 hour program, plus a few minutes of the next show that was recorded on the same DVD.
When I try to play the first VOB file in VLC and MPC, the time index shows only 3+ minutes long. The video plays past that point, but the index stops at 3 minutes.
I have tried a bunch of programs to see if it will recover the file but without luck. The last one I tried was "Quick Stream Fix" function in VideoRedo.
Which program can fix this problem?
Or is VideoRedo is capable of doing it but I don't know how?
For my own knowledge, what is the problem?
(If I know what things are called then I can at least search them. My understanding of video formats is quite limited, and I would like to learn more. It is daunting to see all these terms (like quantization or I-frames, etc.) in a video progam and not know what 80% of them do.
I did search in the forums for this but I guess the keyword I used were not right....
Anyway, while I was just reading around in the forum and learning, I found FixVTS and thought to give it a try. Still same problem. VideoRedo and NeroVision will play the entire program except that the time code thingy shows 3 minutes. When I try to save the file, I get a 3 minute VOB file of 22 Mb. It should be a file closer to 1 Gb!
Try PgcEdit.
Click once on the VTS. Then click on Title. In the dropdown box, click on Remap time maps of current VTS.
When you download PgcEdit from it's homepage, be sure to download all the plugins and install them in PgcEdit's plugin folder.
Hi Dialysis
I played around before I read your message and got it to work.
I used another program to go recode the whole file.
By the way, VidoeRedo's Quick Fix option probably would have fixed the problem as well, except that I had not entered the trial key which removes the 15 minutes of video limitation from the trial version. The trial version is still for 15 days. That is what I gather...
But I will keep your information in mind if I need it next time.
