There's a newer firmware for your burner (version SB02) here:

http://www.samsungodd.com/Lib/popup/Down...-S182F_SB02.bin

I'm not sure exactly what you're trying to do. Are you trying to convert these AVI files to be DVD compliant? If so, you'll need to use Nerovision, DVD Flick, ConvertXtoDVD or a similar program to do so. Otherwise, you just need to burn the AVI files as data to a Data DVD with Nero or Nero Express.

The downloaded firmware file is likely an archived executable. Open the archive with WinRAR or a similar program and then double click the file inside. It should then locate your burner and ask permission to update the firmware.

I don't know whether the CRC error is coming from your HDD or whether the burner is causing it. Have you tried using Device Manager to uninstall the burner and reset the comm channel? The OS will autoinstall upon restart.

Nero might just be gibbled up as well. You might also try a different burning program to burn the files.

Are you getting this same error for all data you try to burn or just this particular file? Have you tried copying a DVD you own? Do you get a good burn? Can you burn CDs?
