Here's the Newegg Wishlist.

I already bought this 2GB 800 RAM for $40 and a Western Digital 500GB hard drive, and I'm using the Sony DRU820A DVDrw drive from my old PC.

This is a general purpose and gaming PC I guess.

Yup so that 45nm Core 2 Duo 3GHz just appeared, and it looks like it's worth paying a bit more over the 65nm 2.66GHz. I don't know when the 45nm quads will be available, but E8400 looks like a better value than the Q6600.

I think I will try overclocking, so I got a heat sink fan (Nirvana). Some people say it's quiet and some say it's too loud. Anandtech said it's pretty good with the fan a little less than max. And the cooling is good.

Would you change anything? Have any suggestions?

For me, E8400 is better, it's a 45nm, which means more OC and less heat plus low power and can Overclock pass 4GHz. Ad for your wishlist, for some reason i could load the page...It's my internets problem

this is a pretty decent rig. Could you wait for another month or two? Wait for Q9300, then you'll have a awesome rig.

I would wait till mid march. Price are going to go DOWN. The new stuff will be coming out. You might not want to spend 300+ on a new Quad Core but the older CPUs will get cheaper.

Also the 9800GTX should come along soon, therefore reducing the price of the 8800GT even more.

how sure are you guys the prices are going down in march? I'm trying to build a pc for my friend. He needs it ASAP but if prices are going down for sure, then I might have him buy the parts from a local store instead of Newegg so he can get a price match later on :)

Also, if you know what specifically the price drop will include please let me know... What I mean is, motherboard prices (P35 or X38 chipsets?), processors (E8xxx E6xxx series prices?) ATI video cards (HD3850, 3870??) DDR2 RAM/psu/case/etc he already has...

Thanks!

Honestly it's my speculation, but I think it will happen. When ever new tech comes out the old one gets cheaper. This is now necessarily true for Intel CPUs, as they tend to release newer better CPUs for cheaper(the E6700 vs the E6750 is an example).

I think the 8800GT should go down in price though. Many of us are waiting till the new Quads come out.
