DVD won't play on standard dvd player.

I have created a MPEG2 with pinnacle and I want it to play on a DVD player hooked up to a TV. It plays on the computer when clicked on but it does not play on the TV. It keeps saying check the disc. Can someone help me with the process to correct this.

1st off you might want to check here to see if your stand alone plays back ups (well is a guide to see anyway):

http://www.dvdrhelp.com/dvdplayers

Not all DVD Players will play mpeg2 straight from DVDR , but they would be alright if you had a SVCD (mpeg2) perhaps.
You need to check more mate , your stand alone would probably play DVDR if you had VOB format burnt to a VIDEO_TS folder for instance.
