how to copy xbox360 games?

ok, your have to bare with me on this..im new to this whole thing.. i understand that to make a copy of a xbox360 game you need to have your xbox modded, does this just mean the harddrive flashed?
and also i understand the FTP connection, but how exactly do you get a modded dashboard?

i have verbatim DL DVD+R's and a dual layer burner but i was wondering if there was a vertain brand of burner that works beter, in some forums people have mentioned this.

it would be appreciated if somehad could exlpain how to do this, i wasnt understanding it in the other threads

1) Modded 360= Flashed Drive
2) I don't have a 360, but this may help:

^That is for a Hitachi drive, you will need a tutorial for the drive you have.
3) What burner do you have? Anyone should work.
