Hi. I'm a noob at this, but i want to mod my wii. I've update my wii so its at version 3.1 i think. I checked out the serial number site, and it gave me this:

Your Drive Chip is most likely GC2-D2B.

Your Drive Pins are most likely cut.

I'm just wondering if i can still mod my wii, with it updated; and what are drive pins? are they important?

You can mod your Wii with various chips, the most popular and recommended one is the Wiikey. (The latest chips such as the argon and d2ckey won't work in your machine). Basically the modchip has to be compatible with D2B drives which you have.

If the drive pins are cut then it takes a little more time and effort but not that much. The older ones without the cut pins were easier and Nintendo started cutting them to make it tougher. However, it's not really a problem. If you are very good at soldering then you should be able to do it yourself. If not then get a professional to do it.
