I'm trying to determine what the best settings are to use for burning and I wanted to know if DAO or Incremental would produce better burns. I also wanna know what effects link size and buffer size have on it.

hmm...

What program are you burning with and what exactly are you wanting to burn.
For PS2 Backups and burning just follow this guide.

I'm using Imgburn and I wanted to get better results. There are always skips and long loads when I burn. I have Verbatim disks by the way so I'm pretty sure its not the media which is usually the first thing people bring. I have an LG GSA 4166B dvd burner.

I wanted to know if there was a way to get better burns.

Well your right media is usually the reason, and the speed with which you burn and your PS2. Read #29 of that faq.
Here is a guide on what incremental means and why the different speeds are chosen. The newer slims don't seem to care if its DVD+R or DVD-R, at least mine hasn't yet.
I always burn at 4x even if I use 18x DVD. Just always have and I have never had skips etc. But thats me.

Thats because usually DVD-R is best to use for PS2 except for the later PS2. Read #29 of this faq. Using DVD+R its usually good to set your Booktyping to DVD-ROM.
This site here can maybe help you out some more. Lots of info on DVD's
