Cannot access burn settings in nero 8 Ultra

For whatever reason when setting up to burn a dvd (Ridata 16x RITEKF1)I am not getting access to setting the burn speed, or anything really from the drop down menu. So it just burns at 4x...I usually like to burn at either 8 or 12 x

Is there something I need to set in the programs settings to enable my access to the burn settings?

Make sure the firmware on your burner is up to date. If the media id isn't supported in the firmware usually you'll have limited and lower burn speed options.

it sounds like you've been able to burn at higher speeds, before
so it's probably that your drive is misreading the crappy media
or the software (NERO IS ALWAYS SUCKING UP ) is just being buggy restart it, try burning in a free burner like imgburn and see if all
the speeds come up

if your are not prompted go control panel> (make sure your in category view) and select printers and other hardware, and hit the option add new hardware or something to that extent
