Motorola V360 locks up when texting or adding a contact

my v360 has developed a strange problem whenever I try to add a contact or type a text messege the phone locks up, the cursor stops flashing and the t-mobile logo flips over on the cover.. I have to pull the battery to unlock it.. other then that the phone works fine HELP
