sony DVD-RW (RITEK W01) need help!

I have been using office depot brand dvd-r for a while without any problems on my stand alone. I just bought a pack of sony DVD-RW (RITEK W01)and burned a movie, but it wouldn't play in my DVD player. Do you think this is a compatibility issue or just a burn error. I thought that if my stand alone would play DVD-R it would play -RW just as well. Am I wrong?

Well I erased the disk and re burned it at 1x(2x is the max) and it works now. Thats why I wanted RW. No more coasters!
