I know proper etiquette in these forums is to try and find my answer before I ask the question, but I have looked around & I'm kind of feeling more confused than when I started! So, I thought I would just ask and see if anyone would be kind enough to answer or direct me to where it's already been answered.
I am a mac user and I am trying to backup PS2 games from their original discs. My PS2 is modded (I bought it that way, so I don't really know the details) and I know it works with ripped games. I've been able to download an ISO file and make a DVD on a PC (with a program called "Sonic"), but starting from the original discs seems to still be a problem--or maybe it's just the mac. I have tried GTA San Andreas and Burnout: Dominator so far and have had just black screens come up when I load the DVDs. I am using Verbatim discs, as suggested here.
I get the feeling there's some decryption process that I'm missing. Some instructions I've seen just say to use Toast or Disk Utility to make a copy and that should be good enough (which isn't so far!). Others seem to be very complicated: changing file names, using several programs to crack it (most of which don't seem to be available on macs).
Any suggestions? I've got Burnout on my HD now as a Master DVD disk image, with folders in it named: cnf, data, fe, iop, ovid, pveh, etc.
