BENQ DVD DD DW1625

I have an external BENQ DVD DD DW1625 that worked fine until I attempted to install the burner into my PC [rather than being external]. Once I installed it as the slave, it was unable to read any DVDs/CDs what-so-ever. Through my frustration, I made it external again and purchased another burning to put into my PC that works fine. The BENQ DVD DD DW1625 still does not read any DVD's/CD's at all and the drive door sometimes opens/closes on its own. Is it completely gone crazy? I was thinking that maynbe the lens is just a little dirty. Any thoughts?
