hey, dudes.

i was trying to put Ultimate Blue III theme on my 3.52 m33-4 PSP (i've put it on there before) and when i exited the program, it didn't boot to the XMB, but froze on black and shut off.

i then loaded UPMS and (being a RETARD) just wrote my NAND backup file (.bin) to my flash via elfmenu.(i created the backup on a DIFFERENT PSP just to let you know) *that was the bad part huh?*

i then exited UPMS and tried to boot. no boot. just a black (yet still lit) screen.

so i went back to UPMS and entered Despertar Cemetario (like i should have in the first place) and the screen went COMPLETELY black. (no light) i tried to use the brightness button, but no prevail. i noticed that it still was on though, so i pressed (X) cause i remember that being the "install 3.71m33" button.

the lights went off and stuff for around 2 minutes. then stopped. i assumed it was done so i pressed (X) to let it shut down.

i then rebooted. and it WORKED!!!!

but it will not read discs now. it doesnt even attempt. it just comes up saying "Disc Cannot Be Read". plus, the brightness is all messed up, and the XMB sometimes doesnt want to run in full CPU speed.

what should i do? will Chilly Willy KeyCleaner help i hope? (i hope i didnt totally mess up the IDstorage. (thats what is messed up right?)

thanks in advance.

By flashing someone else's NAND dump, you replaced your IDstorage with theirs. This causes errors such as Disc Read errors when you insert a UMD, a blank MAC address, and the inability to run anything from the GAME menu in the XMB.

Unless you have a backup of your NAND, there is absolutely, positively NO WAY to recover your IDstorage.

Of course it can't. IDstorage is unique to every PSP. There is absolutely no way to regenerate it, unless you're Sony.

In case you don't know who I am, check these links.

Listen to FreePlay, he knows his stuff...

No way, unless you have your own NAND backup made.

Just an fyi but status doesn't = more knowledge. Status here is based on post count not quality.
Am I knocking sr. and above members - heck no - but just remember title should be irrelevant - it's the quality of the post that counts.

Yes, I have done this before.
When you restore somebody else's nand-sump.bin file, it does screw up your PSP.
The Pandora screen might work but you can't see it.
It screws up you XMB brightness.
I haven't had a problem with my UMD drive though, I haven't checked.
Oh, and i don't think it is possible to upgrade your system to anything after you do somehow restore your XMB system using Pandora.

My PSP FAT History: 3.40 > 3.51 > 3.71 > 3.71 M33-4 > 3.80 M33-5 > 1.5 Kernel Addon >I restored a slim's nand-dump.bin on mine and it died... so i sold it.

My PSP SLIM History: 3.60 > 3.80 M33-5 > 3.90 M33-2...

i can run EVERYTHING except UMDs....

only thing that i think is possible for fixing is the brightness....

isnt there 3rd party .prx's that your can manually flash to kd to fix brightness? i did that to one of my PSP's cause when i downgraded, the brightness messed up.
