Computer was having problems not responding then won't turn off by switch had to be unplugged. Just bought and installed a new cosair 450w unit. When I go to turn it on nothing happens but looking at the motherboard the unit is receiving power cause it is lite up. Need help figuring out what may be the problem?

check to see if all the parts in your motherboard are properly connected
and the power supply that you bought. If it doesn't work try to isolate the power supply with your old one.

Tnx for the help of Dragonz17 for my sig.

Checked everything several times. What do you mean isolate the power supply with your old one?

means try another psu to see if current 1 is bad or not. is both power connectors attached to the motherboard? disconnect all cables to drives, reseat all cards & ram & clear the cmos. make certain cmos jumper is in correct position as have found some to be in clear mode not default mode.

Thanks for the info cmos never knew about it. Think the problem was the battery on the motherboard.

battery won't cause that problem. a computer will still post without a cmos battery as it will use default settings.

Not the psu malfunctioning cause I tested it. When system booted after battery was removed then inserted it says low cmos battery so what else could it be? Also when I took the battery out and put it back it load the bios then exited it to a black screen.

lets hope thats all it is

if it turns out it's not the battery then unplug all devices but hard drive and try firing it up

i had a laser device (cd or dvd ROM) go bad twice (not the same one)and it made my whole system behave like a queer guy at a fashon show.

good luck
