I borrowed 1 disk from a friend last week & run DvdInf - it came out as MCC004. It didn't burn or do anything else with it. First thing that came into my mind was it is a fake media code. I haven't done any test with them other running it under DVD Identifier to check the media code. I should have kept that disk & burn something, then do some test.

They got a thread at cdfreaks.com in the bargain basement.Fake Mitsubishi media. Seems like the Plus format of those playo's are decent. Not so fortunant with the dash. Made in China. Decent as in putting unimportant stuff on them, but not archival.
At around 12 cents each,I'll probably pick up a spindle of the plus's to try out and pass around. I'm sure my Q's won't have any problems with them at a 4x burn.

I get free DVD's from a Christian ministry that likes to use Playo discs with a 3 inch label around the hub. They code out as MCC004 & the have really bad DVDInfopro test scores so I rip then to the hard drive then burn a new copy on either TY or Verb media so one day when the Playo discs go unreadable I'll still be able to watch the programs on my backup discs.

At least they are re-rippable, even with a sticker lable.

I went to Office Max for the verbatim sale, but they were out of 100 pk spindles. They were substituting TDK for them, LOL!!
I then slid on over to Office depot and picked up a 100 pk spindle of Memorex +16x. These have been coding as Ricohs for over a year now. Until now, these are MBIPG101-R05-001, UGH!!! I forgot to look at where they were made in,which is INDIA!
Memosux is back at it again. I tested 2 of them, My benq 1620 scored a 95 so not too shabby. My 1650 scored a 90 with most of the errors at the 3 gb mark. These were burned at 4x.
I'm still going to try out a spindle of the Playo's tomorrow. I'll send them over to my little bro, LOL!!!

Well the burns are less than 2 months old so yes they ripped just fine even though they play ok & tested awful.

1st burned seemed ok,but nero wouldn't recognize it so I could scan it. My stand alone player just made squeeking noises, therefore not recognizing it. 1 coaster!!!
Testing a 2nd disc from the middle of the spindle.

I burned 4 playo's so far and here's my results:
First disc on top of spindle,no drives would recognize it.
Second burn from center of spindle, scored 95 at 4x.
Third burn, came from the second disc on top: Coastered out 90% into the burn at 8x speed.
Fourth burn,from the 3rd disc on top: Scored a 95 at a 4x speed.
There was a paper label inserted between the top 2 discs in spindle which may have screwed them up.
50% coaster rate. I usually avg 1 coaster every 500 or so backups.

Made in China
that surely means they're MCC004 fakes ???. Verbatim/Mitsubishi don't make disks in China (as far as i know anyway); in fact as far as i'm aware no reputable discs are made in China. This sounds like the faking of the famous TYG02 MID code that was so prevalent.
edit- doing some googling....
http://club.cdfreaks.com/f33/verbatim-dv...e-china-238728/ - not quite the wiser after reading that one
http://club.cdfreaks.com/f33/real-fake-mcc-004-a-236763/ - it's not looking good
http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_jump.cfm/523553/3166022 and subsequent posts - LOL looks like i'd posted on this subject before. Still looks like fake/subpar media to me...
Yep, it's 100% fake media as far as I can tell. I've tested a few Playio DVD's. They are awful. Would never use or buy them.
