Problem with Verbatum Disks

I have a strange problem. Generally when burning disks I use verbatum, but I got a few spindles of an off brand on sale awhile back and have been using them with moderate success. Anyway, the cheapo disks ran out and I switched back to Verbatums only to find that my DVD burner (Lite-On LH-20A1P-185) can't read the disks. ImgBurn gives a 'device not ready' error as the disk just keeps on spinning and spinning.

I checked on my family's computers and they read and burn just fine. And once they're burned my Lite-On drive can read the disks. I thought about a firmware problem but the disks aren't new, they're the remainder of an old pack that worked just fine before.

So I'm not sure where to go from here. Any help would be appricated.

Chaeck and make sure your DMA is still on. Reinstall the drivers for your DVD drive and reboot Windows.

Went through everything on that post you linked to, not only did it not fix the problem but now when I put a verbatum disk in my whole computer locks up until I eject the disk. :[

Thanks anyway, I think theres something physically wrong with the drive though. It's over a year old and I got a good amount of use out of it, probably time for a new one.
