Hello. I want to build a Mini-ITX system for a HTPC/Server for my house.

I want to use a CF card as the primary hard driver using a CF to ide adaptor and have another hard drive as the slave.

I have been looking at CF card and the "solid state" type have a "write limitation" on them of about 100,000 cycles. Does this mean the PC would need a restart around 99,000 cycles?

So now i am looking at the "micro drive" type as you can see the Micro Drive Pic its like a tiny hard drive. So would this have "write limitations"?

Thank You Matthew

It's basically a miniature hard drive. It will have the same type of failures that a normal drive would have. The moving parts will eventually give out. Most likely the manufacturer will list a certain amount of time before the drive should fail, usually listed in hours (You can read about it here.). With that being said, there's not a set limitation to the number of times that the drive can be written to.
