Well recently I had to disassemble my motherboard in order to replace my old CPU fan. For the past couple of weeks its been making an on and off squeaking noise thats been annoying, and I've been getting some pretty high temperatures from my CPU(frequently crashing, 50C idle, 65C highest so far before it explodes. Oddly enough only the second core, according to speed fan, is extremely overheatting). So I took out the stock heatsink/fan for my CPU and reapplied some thermal grease to it, put it back in the motherboard.
However, upon starting up I don't get any video from my PCI-E card. CPU and case fans start up, hard drives and dvd-rom does too. The video card's fan spins up as well, with the PCI-E cable attached. However, no luck on getting any response from the monitor (I've also tried two different monitors, just incase).
This is not the first time that I've had trouble with getting video, as almost every time I open the case something ends up preventing it. Previously it had been an SATA drive stopping it, and occasionally disconnecting and connecting internal devices will fix the problem, however nothing seems to be doing the trick this time.
I've started from a completely barebones set up, with just the CPU and heatsink after completely remounting it to the case (multiple times). With just that set up, I recieve a single short beep from the speakers, which I'm fairly sure is for a memory error, which is normal. This beep goes away after installing RAM, but after that I recieve no codes at all no matter what devices I install.
I've also had to recently reinstall a new PSU, from an FSP Group FX700 (which failed to power on) to a Corsair 750TX. After installing it, there were no real problems other than the already present overheating CPU.
I would like to, but I really don't want to invest too much money in another 939 socket if I had to. If this is really the problem, I think it'd be a better choice to grab a new AM2+ socket or what ever Core 2 Quad is board.
