Newer firmware for your burner at the links below:

Pretty low quality media. Verbatim is the most easy-to-come-by good quality media imo.

The CDRALW2K driver is a Roxio driver that can sometimes interfere with Nero's ability to burn. Use the Roxio Zap tool to remove it unless you also use Roxio software.

http://tools.roxio.com/support/tools/roxizap.exe

You might also try using Nero to create an image file instead of burning directly to disk. Try using ImgBurn (free) to burn the created image to disk.

I'd also edit your original post to remove your Nero serial number in its entirety. Click the paper/pencil icon in the uper right of your post to enter edit mode.

I agree with everything that Laddyboy mentioned.... just adding a good web page to download the latest firmware for your drive:
http://www.cdrinfo.com/Sections/Firmware...spx?DriveId=998
version 2.1b is the latest version for your drive.

also: Firmware is programming that is inserted into a programmable memory area of your drive, thus becoming a permanent part of a drive. This 'software' is called firmware and can be updated with a firmware flasher. A firmware upgrade can add new functionality to your drive. Also bug fixes and improvements are done by firmware upgrades. It also adds more media codes and write strategies to the drive to improve burning capabilities and disk recognition.

since you have very OLD firmware your drive will find it hard to write to the newer media found today! Without doing a firmware update your chances of burning successfully is limited. Do the firmware update.

ALSO:
more RAM would do wonders for Nero to work! Cut down on multi tasking, internet, and even shut down anti virus while working with Nero!

Update your Nero to version 6.6.1.15a
Here's how:

Before udating to 6.6.1.15a save the serial #, uninstall Nero, then use the cleaning tools : http://www.nero.com/eng/support-nero6-tools-utilities.html
then do a registry clean up - free registry cleaner, CClean: http://www.ccleaner.com/download/downloadpage.aspx?1) and defrag...... then reboot!

update to Nero 6.6.1.15a, install Package 1 and Package 2 only:
http://www.nero.com/eng/downloads-nero6-update.php
Install Package 1 & 2 ONLY!
reboot and you're good to go!
