I was hoping to find some help here. Recently I installed a Seagate 250gb hard drive. About two days later my sound began slurring. It sounds like it's slowing down to maybe 1/2 speed or 1/4 speed. My computer also seems to be running a bit slower, (mostly noticable on extracting compressed files. However this is not consistent. If I have no other programs running the sound will not slow down except when I first open an MP3. Be keep in mind, this is not just MP3 files, this is my overall sound, YOUtube videos, AIM sounds, everything. So I am sure my music player(Winamp) is not causing this. Also I JUST installed a new power supply(because I thought this may be the problem)however it was not. Also I have disconnected both of my "storage" hard drives(I have 3 total hard drives) to see if my one of those hard drives (including the new one) was slowing down the sound on my computer. The problem continued. I've ran a 'memtest' that my friend recommended to me, I've also ran some program my friend told me would test my CPU. Still the problem continues.
Also one of the times I restarted my computer, Windows told me that I had bad sectors in my "music" partition (which is a 37gb partition on my new 250gb hard drive). I let Windows repair them, or whatever it said it was doing. I would think that the bad sectors may be the cause, but as I stated before, I disconnected all the hard drives to see if one was causing the problems and the problem persisted.
Anyway, I thought I'd try here first before reinstalling Windows.

I'm running Windows XP SP2.
Have you done a virus check, lately? Your new hard drive may be bad, though.
