upgrading RAM advice please

Hello, right now im trying to figure out the best way to upgrade my laptop to its max. I don't know that much about RAM but i did some research and figured out a little about it. I went to the crucial site and it said that "Each memory slot can hold DDR2 PC2-4200 with a maximum of 1GB per slot." I want to upgrade it into 2 GB. I was wondering what would happen if i put in a 2x 1 gb DDR2 PC2-5300 instead of 4200? I finally found a good price for both of them but the store only sells 5300 right now.

The "Kingston Technologies 1GB PC2-4200 DDR2 SDRAM Laptop Memory" is sold out. but is there a different between 1GB PC2-4200 DDR2 SDRAM and what crucial recommends which is "DDR2 PC2-4200 ? CL=4 ? Unbuffered ? NON-ECC ? DDR2-533 ? 1.8V ? 128Meg x 64?"

Whats the difference Between DDR RAM and DDR SDRAM. Is one better than the other?

I tried to do what you are doing. The faster speed memory will not work. Your computer will not boot. Stick with what your laptop manufacturer recomends. If one gig per slot is recomended, do that. Make sure that you have updated all your chipset drivers and run Mem Test after installing your new memory. This will let you know if their are any issues. Only buy memory with a Lifetime Warranty.

what is better DDR RAM or DDR SDRAM? The one with 4 chips or 8 chips?

I would go with the sdram, if it is recomended for your computer.
