Well this is the first time i have been here in the P2P Section of the forums. If I were to download Xbox 360 games on uTorrent, is that legal?
If it is legal for now, will I potentially get fined if they suddenly take action in the future?
By the way, Im from NewYork

Thanks

Downloading of copyrighted material, like XBox games, is illegal in the US.

Also, when using uTorrent, or any bittorrent program, you are also uploading as you are downloading, and uploading of copyrighted content is illegal everywhere.

It is unlikely that anyone downloading for personal use would be charged with a crime, so the legal/illegal is not the real issue.

A person who is caught downloading or uploading copyrighted material is always subject to a civil lawsuit for copyright violations and the civil fines, at least in the US, are substantial. See this story.

p2p in of itself is legal but its what you upload and download that makes it illegial.

As long as you don't download copyrighted music/movies/games/software then it's totally acceptable.

Heres an analogy that should sum it up for you.

Compare Utorrent to that of a firearm.
Alone and used properly it causes no harm.
But can easily be mis-used, and cause trouble for the user.

Anyway RAV009 has a great Bt security guide hosted here on AD,
My recommendation is to read it and put it into good use.
Best of luck.

Are you serious? All media from the major (and the minor) labels is copyrighted. Movies, music, and software are all copyrighted, period. Downloading these can get you in serious trouble with the respective copyright holder(s), or the riaa.

I apologize if I come off sounding all "high and mighty" or worse--as a riaa lackey.

I swear I am not associated in any way shape or form with the riaa/mpaa.
