I'm new to this. I want to take my dvds and make backup copies.
I have never done this before. I have been reading about the process and I'm just confused.
I download with limewire and burn with nero.
So to make a copy of a dvd i have purchased. what programs do I need.

Can I just use DVD Decrypter will this software do everything or do I need it and another software?
I also want to use free programs

Can someone please direct me on where to start and with what?

Use DVDFab HD Decrypter to rip the DVD to a folder on the hard drive.

Then open that folder with DVD Shrink and save the contents to a new folder on the hard drive.
It will shrink the files to fit a standard blank DVD - optionally DVD Shrink will let you link to DVD Decrypter and burn the new disk.

Note that 'DVD Decrypter' and 'DVDFab HD Decrypter' are different programs.

Run DVDFab HD Decrypter , insert movie,select 'Full Disk' or 'Main Movie' and choose a folder to output the files.

Run DVD Shrink, click 'Open Files' and browse to the 'VIDEO_TS' folder containing the ripped files.
Click 'Backup' and either save the output to a new folder or opt to burn your new DVD with 'DVD Decrypter'.

Thanks so much!!! One more question. I already burn with nero. After i use DVD Shrink can i burn it with Nero. I use Nero Vision Express 3. Just wondering because im familar with Nero.

One of the backup options is to burn using Nero.
DVD Shrink detects Nero automatically.

I have downloaded DVD Decrypter, and DVD Shrink. So now I will give it a try. Thanks for the info. and I will post what happens.
