Problem backing up certain DVDs

Whenever I try to back up a certain DVD, it gives me a blue screen error as soon as it hits 51%
The BSOD is a 0x0000009C which indicates a hardware problem but I dont believe it since I never get this error except when trying to rip this DVD and only this one.
I have tried the following combinations and it still fails right at 51%
DVD Decrypter
DVD Shrink
AnyDVD + DVD Decrypter
AnyDVD + DVD Shrink
RipIt4Me + DVD Decrypter
DVDFab Platinum (Clone)
Any ideas on what could be causing this? If you need any more information, let me know.

This is a hardware issue. Most likely something is overheating. When was the last time your machine was cleaned?
What type of burner do you use? SATA, IDE, or USB?
Have you made any changes to your system lately?
99% of all problems are between the computer and the chair.

Well it ONLY does it on this DVD. I can back up any other DVD. I tested a few. I reformatted a couple weeks ago but other than that there has been no new hardware additions.
I am using an SATA burner....
A Samsung SH-S183L.

What's the name of the DVD? Just curious. I doubt it has anything to do with your problem but it seems that for some reason your machine is working real hard with this one.
99% of all problems are between the computer and the chair.

I didn't think it was the dvd either but the fact that it BSODs at 51% every time is a little weird. That's why I tried other DVDs. Flawless... well I didn't check their quality since they were only tests but at least they finished.

Ok now I am confused....
I just hooked up an IDE DVD burner and it ripped it fine (again I haven't checked quality but at least it finished). Too bad it was painfully slow
If my DVD burner, SATA cable, SATA port, or Mobo was bad, why would it do it just on this 1 DVD. And if this DVD sucks, why would another burner on another bus work?
The burner it failed on was a Samsung SH-S183L and the burner it worked on was a NEC ND-3520A
Any ideas why it failed on my Samsung?

is the DVD scratched/bad/dirty ? sounds like it is
that can cause the problems you mentioned
some drives read better than others
make sure your in DMA mode and not in PIO mode also, you check that in device manager to see if your in PIO mode uninstall the IDE controlers reboot and let windows reinstall them to get you back to DMA mode or use this guide

I think I figured it out. There is this blotchy spot on the disc that kind of looks like a liquid was on the disk and etched in it. I guess my SATA drive didn't like it very much.

yeah read errors from scratched/bad dvds will put your drives in PIO mode

None of my drives were in PIO mode. They are all in SATA or DMA

It still sounds like a dirty/scratched/damaged disc.
Standalones will still play a disc with light damage...however ripping one with minimal damage can still be about a fifty-fifty.
