Went to my computer, It's running really slow, overheating my duo core processor. Can't even minimize a window, takes all my virtual memory. went to task manager - dllhost.exe taking all my memory. someone give me a little help please? running vista on laptop.

hi,

i built a duel core for myself a few weeks ago (amd 5600+)
need to post a hjt log as a starting point:

download HJTInstall.exe

http://www.trendsecure.com/portal/en-US/.../HJTInstall.exe

* Save HJTInstall.exe to your desktop.
* Doubleclick on the HJTInstall.exe icon on your desktop.
* By default it will install to C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\HijackThis .
* Click on Install.
* It will create a HijackThis icon on the desktop.
* Once installed, it will launch Hijackthis.
* Click on the Do a system scan and save a logfile button. It will scan and the log should open in notepad.
* Click on "Edit > Select All" then click on "Edit > Copy" and Paste the entire contents of the log into your next reply.

* DO NOT use the AnalyseThis button, its findings are dangerous if misinterpreted.
* DO NOT have Hijackthis fix anything yet. Most of what HJT lists will be harmless or even required by your Operating System.

hi,

can you tell me if your dllhost.exe is running out of the system32 dir.

there is a newer malware app, download and run it and post the log, lets see if it can dig anything up.

* Double-click mbam-setup.exe and follow the prompts to install the program.
* Be sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
* If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
* Once the program has loaded, select Perform FULL SCAN, then click Scan.
* When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
* Be sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
* When completed, a log will open in Notepad. Please save it to a convenient location. The log can also be opened by going to Start > All Programs > Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware > Logs > log-date.txt

this is foistware, installed without your knowledge (third party add-on) and useless to boot. it can be removed via add/remove programs list:

Go to Start > Settings > Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs and remove the following programs if present.

Viewpoint
Viewpoint Manager
Viewpoint Media Player
