Firstly does the cable from the phone-line plug straight into the modem or does it run through a speed touch box or router?

This is important. if it runs through a router the cable you need to extend is called RJ45 the plugs into your network card.

If this is not the case then you can buy a modem cable extension from most shops and online stores.

I would advise not cutting your current cables and connecting it with another as it may cause problems with your network.

hope this helps.

OK, you can buy an extesion cable from most shops an online stores.

I would advise this to be the best way.

The way this works is 1 end of the cable has the same port as the modem the other end has the opposite piece.

All you do is plug your lead thats in your modem into the socket end of the extension an plug the other end into your pc.

If this dont make much sense or is difficult to follow because i have not explained properly let me know.

Otherwise good luck.

From the site you have show i dont think this is the right cable.

For an ADSL connection you need RJ11 cable

This is what the cable looks like.

If this does not match the cable you have let me know.

OK your on cable, i was a bit lost. ADSL so far as i know just means broadband i have an ADSL connection but use RJ45 cable.

Sorry..

Right from what i have read this is a TV cable, however since im not on cable i don't know how it is supplied to the house.

I would say (Because i have to admit i actually dont know the answer to this one) ring sky and ask them what cable you would need to buy.

I think you have the right one from what i read just a min a go. but im not to sure an dont want you to take my advice an cost you to much money.

Let me know if it is the right cable so i know for next time. Thanks.

I am on Virgin Media cable, you dont need the modem to be next to the pc for it to work, leave the modem where it is and just get a longer RJ45 cable to connect your pc to your cable modem. (You are using a network cable and not USB arent you?)
Theyre cheap as chips on Ebay.
