For as long as I've been backing up DVD's, I've used the RipIt4Me package, with DVD Decrypter, FixVTS and DVD Shrink to get the job done. Occasionally it's taken a small bit of tweaking to make it work, but I don't think I've ever been foiled in a back-up attempt.

Is there anything to be gained by moving to one of the more recent packages of tools? Am I the only dinosaur still using this old combo?

Thanks!

ripit4me is an old but favorite tool of mine!
but recently
if find it easier and faster to back up with alcohol 120%, i'll back it up as a mds image file and then burn it later, its quicker and there is
no quality difference!

Once upon a time, i was a big RI4M fan. I moved on to DvdFab and honestly haven't used it much since.

When i was using it though, i had ZERO complaints. I love it! Maybe i should dust if off for some of the easy titles i picked up this week.

Yes. In a word...updates. Some of these newer titles come with different encryptions that RI4M may not be able to work through.

My advice has always been to carry many tools in one's toolbox just for those difficult situations.

Rip, burn, and conquer!
