hey guys..

well sometimes when i use my computer, like opening and working with stuff in Adobe Audition or loading Steam to play Half Life or even just playing music in iTunes, my computer either freezes or restarts.

i narrowed it down and it's definitely not my PSU, and i think my computer is a little more than qualified to run all that stuff even all at the same time..jus wondered if there was something i was missing.

it's not overheating either. my pc barely jumps above body temperature when i'm not playing games..

all help is appreciated.

This sounds like a RAM problem. How many sticks you got, and what type?

No problem :) I did check your sig, but all it says is 512. Go here:
http://hcidesign.com/memtest/
and grab the trial version. Have it test your memory. Also, If you know someone with RAM compatible with your system, borrow the stick and replace yours with it. Run your heavy programs and try to duplicate the problem. We call this the isolation game :)

If you are running XP, that 4GB is too much RAM. XP will only make use of 3 GB of RAM. (32 bit version)

ahhh damn this POS

so anyways I installed the new RAM and I'm still having various freezing issues, so i'm gonna try the elimination process here in a few minutes.

also, if i get this resolved, can anyone tell me about /PAE?
haha

thanks for the help.

EDIT:
alright so I went ahead and tested both the sticks alone in both slots, for a total of 4 tests, and all crash my computer when I connect to the internet, open up and use mIRC, and play music in iTunes.

ugh imma do some emailing and see about my money back.
