I came to this site since
http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/235285
is high in the google rank for free version of Nero.
I had a very simple OEM version of Nero on my computer that allowed me to burn files to DVD. I do not have the original disks that where used to install my system.
I needed to install the trial version of the Full Nero (8). I had to uninstall the versio of Nero that I had on my computer.
I decided not to purchase the full version of Nero.
But now I do not have the old (as far as I am concerned free) version of Nero that I used to have. I think that it may have come with the DVD drive.
It seems that Windows XP only has CD burning software resident in the OS, but I am not sure.

Alas, there are NO FREE versions of Nero available....you can however go to the Nero site and download their TRIAL version...but if you want to continue using it after it expires then you will have to outlay some $$$$$$$$$$$$$$

pcmicrostore .com has Nero 8 Essentials for $3.95 , with free shipping , as of 2-26-08 . Several other online sites , such as eBay , have Nero 8 Essentials at similar prices , also . I bought successfully at pcmicrostore .com .

Thank you both3 very much indeed. "Nero Essentials" is what I was looking for.
I am using Imgburn and have also been recommended infrarecorder but Nero Essentials seemed to allow drag and drop, I think.

Nero 8 Essentials does have "drag and drop" functionality , according to its built in help files . I never use that function , so I know little about it.

Thanks!
It just means you can drag files onto the DVD icon and then have a nero screen appear saying "do you want to burn now"?
