This forum had the closest relevance to what I wanted to talk about, so I apologize if it is in an inappropriate forum.

On to business:
I am looking to build a computer that will act as a universal console for older systems (from NES to N64). So firstly, I need a case that's somewhat small and has 4 USB ports in front. Secondly, I need to figure out the PC hardware equivalences of the consoles (so I know how good to make it processor/memory/video-wise). And lastly (and possibly the most important), how to run the games. I'm not asking for emulator/rom help specifically, because that may be a touchy subject. In fact this whole thing may be touchy. But I have heard of alternate operating systems that can boot into a sort of console .. uh .. emulation. Basically I don't want to boot into Windows and have to use a game-pad as a mouse to start programs.

If anyone has any insight on this, please let me know. It is all much appreciated.

get an old xbox and mod it. you can put in a large hard drive and then put all the emulators on it. i have a modded xbox and i play n64 nes snes sega and many more. also you can store xbox games on the hard drive. here is an example of what a modded xbxo can do
