Okay so here's my story.

I have a 100GB 2.5" sata laptop hard drive from a sony laptop. The issue is when i go to place it into a sata enclosure and connect it to my pc via usb 2.0.. nothing shows up.

This is what i've done so far in terms of solutions to try to find out the problem.

- i've placed in into a dell laptop that uses sata hard drives and it will recognize it. i've installed windows xp on it fine and everything works but when i go to place it back to the enclosure it doesnt do anything (powers on.. i can hear it running and everything)

- i know its not my enclosure thats the problem because i have a spare 120GB i use as an external and it works perfect on the enclosure

- while the 100gb is inside my dell, i've formated it to fat32 and placed it into my ps3 to get it to format that way (i thought i could use it for my ps3.. upgrade from 60gb.. maybe itll work.. but nope.. no cigar.. it doesnt recognize theres a hard drive inside)

- while i was installing xp.. i deleted the whole partition and made 2 new ones (one for os and the other as a spare)

- i've checked disk management in both xp and vista and it doesnt indicate a problem with the drive (i've formated the dell to vista and then xp to do this)

- well in xp.. ive used acronis and partition magic to play with the hard drive.. in partition magic it labels the drive as **invalid and colored in yellow**.. i can't touch the drive at all with PM8

- with paragon partition magic i can delete and format the drive but still no cigar with the external enclosure

end of story.. i have a 100gb laptop drive that only works inside a laptop (connected via motherboard) and have tried multiple solutions to get my computers to recognize it as an external hard drive when put in an 2.5" laptop enclosure... I need help getting this to work as an external hard drive.. what can i do??
