I have new DataWare DVD+R disks - they show 0 free space and 0 bytes. What do I have to do to use them?

You don't have to do anything with them.
Since XP does not support DVD burning, you can't rely on it to report anything useful about a blank DVD.
Programs like DVD Identifier or DVDInfo pro can tell you the disks capabilities.

Thanks, this worked and does show I have space - but I still can't use the disk. I get a message "Windows encountered a problem trying to copy to this folder" Any ideas?

What program are you using to copy data to the disk - remember that XP has no DVD support as far as burning.

'ImgBurn' is good.

The only Dataware media that I've encountered was DVD+R that was made in China with a counterfeit MCC code . .

Dataware discs are total trash and not worth the effort involved doing anything with!!

Landfill material fer sure
